Welcome back to the newsletter. It’s been two months since I last wrote, and I apologize for the delay.
This apology comes with a gift; I’m hosting an online event called Mindfulness and the Balancing the Many Versions of Self this Tuesday May 14 from 7-8PM ET, sponsored by the YMCA. Please join if you’re able; register here.
In advance of Mother’s Day, here’s a piece I wrote for the Jewdicious substack on The Tired Cliche of the Jewish Mother. I’m calling for an upgrade and an accuracy check. We can do better.
You may also want to check out my blog post on Subjective Well Being. It’s a concept that’s was new to me and is gaining momentum. It’s a way to help you assess contentment, happiness and life satisfaction. And as we know, “what gets measured gets improved” (HT Peter Drucker).
I have been hosting two evening workshop series where we’ve been doing deep dives on happiness, community, wellness, relationships, resilience and more. And importantly, we’ve created own community of folk who like to “go there”. We’ve already celebrated one workshop member’s move to a new continent while another gained US citizenship. There’s lot’s to celebrate as life is constantly in motion.
What can you celebrate today? Last fall I planted two maple trees. Over the last few weeks I’ve watched them leaf out. Small and mighty, apparently resilient to the quantity of dogs in the neighborhood. These two bringing me great joy, satisfaction, and hope for the future. Today, I celebrate the tree.
Tell me what you’re celebrating.
