Happy Summer & Updates

As you may know, I like to take a geographic break during he summer and leave town with my children. I like the mental break from where we live, and the idea of a “summer spot”. As I came of age, I always thought Europeans were smart about relocating for August, and wanted to do it.

So I did.

My summer away is in a rustic cabin (i.e. no air conditioning), and that works for me. Funky, moldy…bears and snakes…and yeah, biking, paddle boarding and this year — PICKLEBALLING. This break does the job of putting me in a different space physically and mentally, and helps me reconnect with my body as well.

I hope you have some opportunities to shift your mindset this summer with some getaways. If they’re not on the calendar yet, make them so. And if you have no idea where to start, set up a session and we can plan it.

I also wanted to share a quick housekeeping update for you with my coaching practice.

– I’m increasing this newsletter distribution to twice a month. One will share  a personal perspective, and one will share a coaching concept / activity to try.

– In addition to coaching, I have been facilitate offsites for executive leadership teams. Summer seems to be the time for executive offsites, and my phone is ringing! It’s a real joy to do this work, as it’s often former clients who bring me in to work with a larger group. Drop me a line: allisont@allisontask.com

– I’m paying attention to my health. As a woman in that zoneI’ve decided it’s time. I’ve begun collaborating with naturopaths and health coaches, engaging in what Peter Attia calls Healthcare 2.0. I’m having more extensive blood work, testing my hormones using the DUTCH, and a dexa scan is definitely in my future. I plan to make it to my triple digits (my genetic predecessors did), and I continue to be interested in healthspan as well as lifespan. How’s your healthspan plan these days? If you’re hitting that middle age moment, it might be a good time to check in and raise your game.

– I’m speaking more; I was recently flown to Las Vegas by Girls on the Run to speak with leadership, and I received a grant from a large national religious organization to lead a spirituality workshop this summer. I launched several workshop series this spring and plan to do it again this fall; drop me a line if you’re interested: allison@allisontask.com.

I’ll be back to you in a couple weeks with more about that vacation state of mind, and how to bring it back home.
